Really, once you hear one track on What The… you've heard them all. There are no stand out tracks. Everything blurrs together like a kindergartener's finger painting. No distinguishable shapes or bright stand out sections, just an amalgamation of slop. And this is coming from a guy who champions powerviolence and fastcore (all hail the deceased Xbrainiax, drink the wine), genres famous for brief bursts and breakneck writing that oftentimes blurs together. Black Flag's songs and lyrics are so interchangeable that the album stoops to a level of cut and paste writing. Instead of going off the deep end the way Family Man did, Ginn and company play it safe. Its embarrassing to listen to and to know I've actually purchased this. Why did I purchase this?!

And before I bring myself down, before I put bullets through this record in my backyard in these city limits I reside in, you'll notice that there are no sample songs on here. Why? Because the when Ron Reyes quit the band pulled everything off the internet. From their music video for “The Chase” to “Down in the Dirt” and “Wallow in Despair.” Their site is little more than a logo. Their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are silent. So instead, beneath these venomous paragraphs I've penned, I'm going to post something better for you. I wanted to put up something like the Xfliesx classic “Please Break Up Before You Embarrass Us All” or a funeral song of sorts, but I found something better. Something more appropriate. Something that can summarize this album simply.

Bottom line: this is Shit with a capital S. I'm usually excited for a band to get back together but after listening to this band for 10+ years and reading every aspect of their history I've been able to get my hands on in a variety of books over the years that is too large to post on here because I'll go over my word count (which has already happened anyway, sorry Jeremy, but when I'm pissed I don't stop until my knuckles are raw), I can't help but wonder why Ginn even bothered with this. And while mulling this over, I keep referring to this line I wrote in the opening paragraph: “Sometimes contemporary records feel grossly uninspired and distant from their source material—from the greats.” Black Flag's past will always be great but their present form is laughably bad. But let's not be so glum. I recall there was a really fantastic album released last year in the vein of old Black Flag and Circle Jerks. It was a self-titled record called OFF!. Go grab that instead, it's awesome. Fuck this crap (*Review by HERE ).

Label:  SST
Format:  CD
Tracks:  10
Time:  35 min.
Genre: rock
Style:        Punk

Loose Nut is the fifth full-length album released in 1985 by Black Flag on SST Records. The album is noteworthy in the Black Flag catalogue for introducing a more commercial sound to their already gestating jazz heavy metal hybrid. In some ways, it is a fusion of the jazz punk style of Slip It In and the jazz metal of In My Head.

"in my head"
Year:  1985
Label:  SST
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  12
Time:  32 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk

In My Head is the sixth studio album released by Black Flag. All of the music was written by guitarist Greg Ginn, who intended to record it as his first solo album. After hearing the band rehearsing the album, singer Henry Rollins wrote lyrics for several of its songs. Many fans consider this record to be perhaps their best album musically. This is a sentiment shared by Kira Roessler, who played bass on the record, according to the biography of "Spray Paint the Walls, The Story of Black Flag" written by Stevie Chick (The sentiment in question being located on pages 374-375 of the aforementioned book). The album represents Black Flag's final stylistic change, to free jazz and hardcore punk influenced heavy metal. It was released in 1985 on SST Records, and was their final album before their reunion in 2013. The CD reissue adds three of the four songs from the I Can See You EP, replicating the original 1985 cassette release which came out concurrent to the LP.

"Slip it in"
Year:  1984
Label:  SST
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  9
Time:  40 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk

"Slip it in" is the fourth studio album by the hardcore punk band Black Flag, released in 1984 on SST Records. "Slip it in" is an extension of the sound Black Flag utilized on its predecessor My War: heavy, cathartic, intense, dense and progressive. At this point, Black Flag was considered by many to be one of the leading bands of the american punk scene. The album pursued the newer, lengthier song arrangements that Black Flag would develop until its demise. It also features Henry Rollins' further development as a songwriter, contributing four of eight tracks on the album. This album also demonstrates Black Flag’s increasing use of instrumentals, where Greg Ginn demonstrates his increasingly more complex playing style.

Over the years since the album's original release it has been recognized as a punk classic and one of the most influential punk records ever made by appearing on a number of "best of" lists by punk fans and critics alike. In 2003, the album was ranked number 340 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Pitchfork Media also ranked it number 25 on its list of the Top 100 Albums of the 1980s. Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  16
Time:  24 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk

This is just a compilation with the 16 first tracks of the band. So here there is just simple punk-rock from late 70s, nothing about jazz punk, experimental punk or spoken words. The techncal level of the band is very low and also the quality sound production is frankly low... but I like very much despite this facts because it sound fresh and spontaneaous. This compilation was also issued under other names as "the first four years" or "everything went black" among others.

If 20 years ago someone had told me that in 2013 there would be so many Mince -core bands... senzillamente not have believed it . Just look at Bandcamp or web- Zines : Mince -core -crust Grind , Grind -Power -Violence ... the important thing is that many people today likes Grindcore , but not accepted as an "obligation" having to write letters on Gore , Terror , extreme pornography , Animals Tortured and the like. Personally I have nothing against these bands , indeed, many of them I like, such as Carcass, Meat Shits , Gut, Dead Infection , etc. . but we must not forget that in the real life (let's face it ) this kind of stuff I'm not very important or momentous . I think the Grindcore from day one was born with 2 heads : Mince (early Napalm Death ) and Gore (early Carcass ) . Well, the band that concerns us belongs to the first group , which insipira in early Napalm Death and later (obviously) in the required : Agathocles.  Musically speed in the extreme hardcore humanly possible (grindcor) and every few minutes or even seconds , Thrash - metal stops slow, heavy , smelly and coming directly from the street, the neighborhood. A curiosity WIPEOUT important to mention is coming from Vladivostok (Russia). Format:  CD

Lyrical themes:  politics , social issues
Time:  32 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Grindcore

The debut full-length release from the one and only Saudi Arabian political grindcore band, Creative Waste. "Slaves To Conformity" is a quite good release even by world standards, produced by Kevin Talley of Dying Fetus. Not so long ago Creative Waste also managed to play several shows in the United States, and they were pleased by performing in front of people who understand exactly what they're playing. Although there's already a considerable number of metal fans in Saudi Arabia, organizing a metal gig there (and even finding people willing to play in a band) is still almost impossible. Check out the interview that CW gave to a Nepalese (!!!) metal blog for more info. They doesn't talk much about their political views there, but it's totally understandable, considering the harshness of the regime in a country which they live in. We can to affirm they are totally hardcore about attitude and mentallity, but musically they left to enter a lot of touches and influences of metal-heads: death, thrash, etc... However they are a brilliant and excellent new promise to little mincecore scene. For all those who love and yearn the superbs Assück, here we have a new substitute. This album is almost perfect and is just the debut (!).

TORTURE KILLER

"phobia"
Year:  2013
Country:  Finland
City:  Turku
Label:  Dynamic Arts
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  9
Time:  39 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Death Metal

When one sees song titles like "Fuck Them When They Bleed," "Cannibal Gluttony," "A Violent Scene of Death," and "Day of Cadavers," it is safe to assume that the band in question is providing death metal -- and death metal has indeed been the focus of Finland's Torture Killer, who have been responsible for all of those song titles as well as others that are equally grindcore-ish. Known for gross-out lyrics dealing with things like cannibalism, mutilation, and dismemberment, Torture Killer has thrived on shock value. But they have done it in a very ironic way, and their albums have been an exercise in dark humor more than anything. Lyrically, Torture Killer gets a lot of inspiration from early-‘90s grindcore bands like Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, and Cancer, but musically, they have never been a grindcore band in the strict sense. Rather, Torture Killer's work has combined death metal elements (including the stereotypical "Cookie Monster" growling vocals) with elements of thrash metal. Formed in Turku, Finland in 2002, Torture Killer started out as a cover band and played songs by Six Feet Under and Obituary. In fact, the name Torture Killer was inspired by a Six Feet Under song. But the Finns soon began writing original material, and their first full-length album, For Maggots to Devour, was recorded in early 2003 and released by Karmageddon Media. Two years later, the band was approached by American singer Chris Barnes, leader of Six Feet Under and the former lead singer of Cannibal Corpse. Torture Killer was experiencing lineup problems in 2005 -- which is hardly uncommon in the death metal/black metal fields -- and Barnes ended up becoming Torture Killer's new lead singer, although he continued to lead Six Feet Under and divided his time between the two bands for a few years. In 2005, Torture Killer signed with Metal Blade, which released their second full-length album, Swarm!, in 2006; in addition to singing lead on that album, Barnes wrote more than half the songs. In early 2008, Barnes announced that he was leaving Torture Killer, and Juri Sallinen was hired as his replacement. In March 2008, Torture Killer's lineup included Sallinen (who has also been with the bands Krypta, Ghost Realm, Funeral Feast, Occult Astral, and Wormfarm) on lead vocals, Tuomas Karppinen and Jari Laine (formerly of Crimson Midwinter) on guitar, Kim Torniainen on bass, and Tuomo Latvala (formerly of Hellbox and Torn) on drums. ~ Alex Henderson.

Refused is a Swedish hardcore punk band originating from Umeå and formed in 1991. Refused is composed of vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandström, and bassist Magnus Flagge. Guitarist Jon Brännström was a member from 1994, through reunions, until he was fired in late-2014. Their lyrics are often of a non-conformist and politically far-left nature. On January 9, 2012, the band announced their long-awaited reunion (which was also highly contested considering the band's original and explicit declaration to never reunite), confirming shows at Coachella, Rock am Ring, Ruisrock, Roskilde Festival, Groezrock, Way Out West Festival, Sonisphere Festival (Cancelled), Download Festival, Rock for People, Primavera Sound, Hellfest, Fuji Rock Festival, Øyafestivalen, Pukkelpop, Resurrection. After embarking on a world tour for nearly a year, Refused went on hiatus again in 2012, but announced another reunion in November 2014. The band released five EPs and three full-length albums before originally splitting up in 1998, and released their fourth full-length album Freedom on the Epitaph Records label on June 26, 2015. "Elektra" was released as the first single from the comeback album on April 27, 2015.
