Compilation of all the material published by this essential band Canada until 2010, if you consider yourself a good lover grindcore not disappoint you at all. Albums , splits , cassetts , ep's... the period 2005-2010 , which at first seems little, but believe us it is a lot of material , many very good songs and all . Grind with a new , powerful and well produced sound, but not sound metal or death-metal or generally useless. Com is pure grindcore the mid- 80s but played for today , with some " loose " parts crust or " sudge " plan , but keeping the accelerator pedal all the time. They also have some interesting protest letters, protest , political and social consciousness that gives them more worthwhile. Quite a challenge ... the ARCHAGATHUS mincecore style.

SQUASH BOWELS

"Grindcoholism"
Year:  2013
Country:  Polish
City:  Warsaw
Label:  SelfMadeGod
Format:  CD
Tracks:  18
Time:  33 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:      Grindcore

The alcoholism is an addiction. We have it all clear, or almost all (the patient denies his addiction, in most cases). Good, I have an addiction, and it does not consist of consuming alcohol, drugs, neither psychoactive drugs or anything similar, in industrial quantities. My addiction is the Music, and while wilder and violent be, more addictive it proves to me. Therefore, the Grindcore is one of my addictions. As addict that I am to the genre, i was waiting for this album with big expectations (something not very common for me, since habitually the edition of a record to future don´t generates me few expectations, and, sometimes, none. I prefer listening to the music without prejudices), so the previous work of the Polish, the extraodinary Grind Virus, it left the rod high up. So, my expectations were focused on the following: will the Squash Bowels at least match what was done in that great album? Or just do what they like, what they want to do, without stopping to think or draw overcome this masterpiece? To my knowledge, they did the last: made a record genuine, sincere and real. They did what they wanted to do, what they wanted to hear, and to hell with expectations. In other words, they took the best decision of all, and so, became his new opus on a very good album. A very good album of the purest and pissed Grindcore, with the hallmark of Squash Bowels, putting everything in place and confirming that for them time does not seem exist. Almost 20 years ago that are on the road, playing visceral Grindcore almost any respite be (I know the group 15 years ago, in fact. But the band formed in 1994). Almost 20 years ago that do their thing without losing effectiveness or energy or anything. Since 20 years Squash Bowels is an inhuman killing machine that uses the Grindcore as a weapon of mass destruction. Since 20 years ago that never fail, always guess right. Grindcoholism is no exception to the rule, fortunately. A little more than 30 minutes of pure rage, chaos, speed ruthless, torn voices (and bloodcurdling), noise, violence and all that we love the Grindcore addicts. And if all this were not enough, those responsible for all this madness are three guys that are kicking ass for almost 2 decades, and, as a corollary, never released a bad album, ever. Again, Grindcoholism is no exception to the rule, but rather the opposite, since it does nothing but confirm something we always knew: Squash Bowels is one of the hottest bands in the history of Grindcore. O Goregrind, if you prefer that tag. Anyway, this is a great album, which songs devastating as "Tastelessness", "The Theater" (my favorite) or the song that gives name to the album explode in your face and do not let a single bone intact. Other songs destroys the rest of the body with the same violent intensity.     To sum up, there is only say this: Arthur, Marius and Andy, thank you for another superb demonstration of pure and brutal grindcore. And thanks for almost 20 years, again, of the best Grindcore (*NOTE this review is from "Puro Ruido" )

Hailing from Massachusetts, Unearth bring a refreshing sense of talent with charismatic riffs, thought provoking lyrics and pummeling breakdowns. Unearth masterfully combine an intoxicating mix of melodic death metal with hardcore ethic and punch. This unique approach makes Unearth one of the most abrasive, commanding and emotionally charged groups in heavy music today. Formed in 1998, Unearth has accomplished more on their own than most bands can do with full support of a label and press.

Really, once you hear one track on What The… you've heard them all. There are no stand out tracks. Everything blurrs together like a kindergartener's finger painting. No distinguishable shapes or bright stand out sections, just an amalgamation of slop. And this is coming from a guy who champions powerviolence and fastcore (all hail the deceased Xbrainiax, drink the wine), genres famous for brief bursts and breakneck writing that oftentimes blurs together. Black Flag's songs and lyrics are so interchangeable that the album stoops to a level of cut and paste writing. Instead of going off the deep end the way Family Man did, Ginn and company play it safe. Its embarrassing to listen to and to know I've actually purchased this. Why did I purchase this?!

And before I bring myself down, before I put bullets through this record in my backyard in these city limits I reside in, you'll notice that there are no sample songs on here. Why? Because the when Ron Reyes quit the band pulled everything off the internet. From their music video for “The Chase” to “Down in the Dirt” and “Wallow in Despair.” Their site is little more than a logo. Their Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are silent. So instead, beneath these venomous paragraphs I've penned, I'm going to post something better for you. I wanted to put up something like the Xfliesx classic “Please Break Up Before You Embarrass Us All” or a funeral song of sorts, but I found something better. Something more appropriate. Something that can summarize this album simply.

Bottom line: this is Shit with a capital S. I'm usually excited for a band to get back together but after listening to this band for 10+ years and reading every aspect of their history I've been able to get my hands on in a variety of books over the years that is too large to post on here because I'll go over my word count (which has already happened anyway, sorry Jeremy, but when I'm pissed I don't stop until my knuckles are raw), I can't help but wonder why Ginn even bothered with this. And while mulling this over, I keep referring to this line I wrote in the opening paragraph: “Sometimes contemporary records feel grossly uninspired and distant from their source material—from the greats.” Black Flag's past will always be great but their present form is laughably bad. But let's not be so glum. I recall there was a really fantastic album released last year in the vein of old Black Flag and Circle Jerks. It was a self-titled record called OFF!. Go grab that instead, it's awesome. Fuck this crap (*Review by HERE ).

Label:  SST
Format:  CD
Tracks:  10
Time:  35 min.
Genre: rock
Style:        Punk

Loose Nut is the fifth full-length album released in 1985 by Black Flag on SST Records. The album is noteworthy in the Black Flag catalogue for introducing a more commercial sound to their already gestating jazz heavy metal hybrid. In some ways, it is a fusion of the jazz punk style of Slip It In and the jazz metal of In My Head.

"in my head"
Year:  1985
Label:  SST
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  12
Time:  32 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk

In My Head is the sixth studio album released by Black Flag. All of the music was written by guitarist Greg Ginn, who intended to record it as his first solo album. After hearing the band rehearsing the album, singer Henry Rollins wrote lyrics for several of its songs. Many fans consider this record to be perhaps their best album musically. This is a sentiment shared by Kira Roessler, who played bass on the record, according to the biography of "Spray Paint the Walls, The Story of Black Flag" written by Stevie Chick (The sentiment in question being located on pages 374-375 of the aforementioned book). The album represents Black Flag's final stylistic change, to free jazz and hardcore punk influenced heavy metal. It was released in 1985 on SST Records, and was their final album before their reunion in 2013. The CD reissue adds three of the four songs from the I Can See You EP, replicating the original 1985 cassette release which came out concurrent to the LP.

"Slip it in"
Year:  1984
Label:  SST
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  9
Time:  40 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk

"Slip it in" is the fourth studio album by the hardcore punk band Black Flag, released in 1984 on SST Records. "Slip it in" is an extension of the sound Black Flag utilized on its predecessor My War: heavy, cathartic, intense, dense and progressive. At this point, Black Flag was considered by many to be one of the leading bands of the american punk scene. The album pursued the newer, lengthier song arrangements that Black Flag would develop until its demise. It also features Henry Rollins' further development as a songwriter, contributing four of eight tracks on the album. This album also demonstrates Black Flag’s increasing use of instrumentals, where Greg Ginn demonstrates his increasingly more complex playing style.

Damaged is the debut studio album by the hardcore punk band Black Flag. It was released on December 5, 1981 through SST Records. Over the years since the album's original release it has been recognized as a punk classic and one of the most influential punk records ever made by appearing on a number of "best of" lists by punk fans and critics alike. In 2003, the album was ranked number 340 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Pitchfork Media also ranked it number 25 on its list of the Top 100 Albums of the 1980s. Kurt Cobain listed it in his top fifty albums of all time.

This is just a compilation with the 16 first tracks of the band. So here there is just simple punk-rock from late 70s, nothing about jazz punk, experimental punk or spoken words. The techncal level of the band is very low and also the quality sound production is frankly low... but I like very much despite this facts because it sound fresh and spontaneaous. This compilation was also issued under other names as "the first four years" or "everything went black" among others.

If 20 years ago someone had told me that in 2013 there would be so many Mince -core bands... senzillamente not have believed it . Just look at Bandcamp or web- Zines : Mince -core -crust Grind , Grind -Power -Violence ... the important thing is that many people today likes Grindcore , but not accepted as an "obligation" having to write letters on Gore , Terror , extreme pornography , Animals Tortured and the like. Personally I have nothing against these bands , indeed, many of them I like, such as Carcass, Meat Shits , Gut, Dead Infection , etc. . but we must not forget that in the real life (let's face it ) this kind of stuff I'm not very important or momentous . I think the Grindcore from day one was born with 2 heads : Mince (early Napalm Death ) and Gore (early Carcass ) . Well, the band that concerns us belongs to the first group , which insipira in early Napalm Death and later (obviously) in the required : Agathocles.  Musically speed in the extreme hardcore humanly possible (grindcor) and every few minutes or even seconds , Thrash - metal stops slow, heavy , smelly and coming directly from the street, the neighborhood. A curiosity WIPEOUT important to mention is coming from Vladivostok (Russia).
