The new masterpiece of German epic metal pioneers Equilibrium, "renegades", is out now. The album is heralding a watershed, the turn of an era for this genre. This is metal at its most epic and most monumental, bearing huge songs, resting firmly in the Zeitgeist with a massive, modern production and sporting quite a number of eclectic influences. Above all, it's still Equilirbium - quite possibly more than ever. Their music mix styles such as: heavy metal, death metal and some symphonic melodies. Apart music, Equilibrium is one of these bands who show their compromises with causes as: environmentalism, pacifism, humanism or social consciousness.

sometimes, you wake up to the news that the president of the US is doubling down on white supremacist rhetoric (again), and you just want to listen to some music that sounds like the world exploding. Future Terror have your back. Future Terror are a Richmond, Virginia band who play squalid, anarchist and vegan crust punk. Their sound nods back to the crusty d-beat gods of the early 80s, but it really sounds more like straight-up chaos than like any particular subgenre. After releasing two EPs, 2017’s We’re All Fucked and 2018’s Toxic Greed, Future Terror have just come out with Plague, their first full-length. It’s fast and turbulent and guttural, and it sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel. Check it out below.

God Dementia show us here definitely a great effort by make a second better album, in all senses: composition, technical level, lyrics, etc. Ten songs of fast death metal with original lyrics far from topics of this style (gore, terror, horror, etc.) and closer to social, politics and also personal issues.

"consuming the delusional"
Year:  2017
Label:  none
Format:  CD
Tracks:  10
Time:  38 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Death Metal

God Dementia is a new band/project of Zack from Dead For Days. For those of you that knew and liked his previous band - there is some bad news. Dead For Days is now more like Dead For Sure or Dead For Real. Don’t despair though and keep reading because music from his new band, which evolved from simple brutal death metal into neck breaking, groove laden, grinding death/thrash, is a thing of ass kicking beauty and anybody in the right mind should be checking it out.

The line-up of this new ensemble consists of pretty much Dead For Days/Reign Inferno dudes (in case you were wondering) and you can be sure as heck they are more than capable of playing their instruments to make this thing into a beast. The only thing that changed from before though is position of second guitarist which on this album was taken by Rick Hernandez. For the less fortunate when it comes to memory cells: Rick was/is taking the position of drummer in other above mentioned bands. If it comes to the music, Zack composed and arranged all of it and he also wrote all the lyrics. All of them recorded it together although and it came together quite impressively. It became more advanced in arrangements department than it was before I believe, but also more interesting because of the amount of new ideas they’ve decided to use this time around. From the very beginning all the way to the end Consuming The Delusional is a full-on attack on religion, government, social life and propaganda. Vocals are very aggressive and sound awesomely pissed off laying it all out and combined with ever-present vicious drum attack, rumbling of very tense bass lines and thick layered riffage of guitars do not leave much time (if any) to catch your breath. Amount of riffs that Zack puts into his songs is insane and knowing that he already got enough material for another album makes you wonder about his mental state. Production deserves an honorable mention here since all and everything is easily recognizable and definitely adds to sharpness of the album itself. Music on the album doesn’t ever ease off or give you any relief; it is tensely packed with fierce energy, a brutal force and relentless attacks from all possible directions. It is a deliberate attack on ones sanity and - takes this as a warning - if you are not ready for such thing, prepare yourself for a vicious and possibly bloody ear thumping.

One of the most energy packed albums I’ve heard in a while so at this point the only thing that’s left for me to say is: steer your attention towards God Dementia because new album Consuming The Delusional is as solid as they come, and it gets better after every listen. It is also an excellent come back for our composing guitar grinder Zack and I’m sure that him and the boys will take any and all support that can be given in any way (*Review by Tom Ecki ).

NATTERERS

"head in threatening attitude"
Year:  2018
Country:  UK
City:  Yorkshire
Label:  Boss Tuneage
Format:  CD, LP
Tracks:  14
Time:  26 min.
Genre:  rock
Style:        Punk        Hardcore

In 2016 and 2017 the UK’s Natterers released two very compelling EP’s respectively. Then the band announced that they would be releasing their first full-length Head In Threatening Attitude this year. This was the real test. The big leagues. Could the band solidify and master their sound enough to crank out a fantastic hardcore album and live up to the great work they did on Demo ’16 and Toxic Care? The answer to that question is, “Hell yes!”

If you’re not familiar with Natterers yet, Head In Threatening Attitude is actually a great place to start with their material. The first track, “Power Tripping” is a really good representation of what the band’s overall sound is like and what they’re all about in general. Lead vocalist Emma’s extremely hard-hitting yells are complemented by guitarist Thomas’s shrieking surf-influenced riffs, while the bass and drums maintain a swift and tight rhythm.

Emma’s vocals on this record should really place her up at the top tier of contemporary hardcore vocalists. Just like “Power Tripping,” other tracks such as “Boring Minds” and “Fix The Fixation” also include her powerful yelling. In a bit of twist though, there are tracks like “Germs And Creeps” and “Not Long Left Now” where she sort of walks the line between her signature yells and melodic singing, which up until this point had not been featured on a Natterers release before. It’s a very welcomed surprise that she pulls off quite well.

Another major part of the band that carries the songs on Head In Threatening Attitude is Thomas’s guitar technique. It’s the backbone of the majority of the tracks, really. His style lands somewhere in between that of East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys and PJ Russo of Night Birds. He is able to mix 80’s West Coast hardcore with surf riffs extremely well in his own unique way, which in turn makes them a large part of what makes each of the fourteen songs distinct from one another. A perfect example of this is the track “Appetite For Distraction.” Thomas’s high-treble and high-distortion licks follow Emma’s vocals (along with the bass as well) making for a very cool contrast. In "Please The People" his massive power chords are accented by quick fills, and screaming high notes later on (*Review by Ricky Frankel ).
