In 2002 Ryan Oppermann created his own small label called "Skeletone Records" to make and distribute his own projects (Redrot, Klinikal Scum, Post-Mortem Junkie...) and also some few different projects. "Psychiatry divine" is the third REDROT recording and continue a musical line very similar to its precedent "Outpatient". Perhaps we can to say here the artist got a kind of sound more calm, slower and a bit close to ambient or drone landscapes. Despite this tydish approach to softer forms and sounds, the release can to be described mostly as a noise or industrial no doubt. Conceptually, the idea of fording a river with a bunch of diseased landlubbers only to reach a very heinous landfall, is pretty much a welcome bummer, if only musically. The packaging has some evocative Psychic TV or Vagina Dentata Organ aesthetics with some porcine modifications and also helps tie the release together.

ACCORDING TO THE ARTIST : REDROT = Ryan Oppermann ... paranoid ??? yes. Par for the course. honest ??? yes. Like any proper information overload unit would be. The flesh is there... throbbing beneath the womb of filth that is the Detroit underground... for far too long. Sometimes it wants to stomp all over your dancefloor... sometimes it wants to stump your brain... merely a product and a reflection of negativity ??? a product of my ongoing abuse as a struggling musician. I also happen to have paranoid schizophrenia. It means that I already carry much of my own pain and guilt. it manifests itself as your voice in my head endlessly insulting every single thing I do. Do you know that kind of misery ??? a reflection...

REVIEW :  few time ago I knew some Ryan Oppermann recordings, sincerely just "On Drowning" as REDROT and few after also another b-side projects like  Klinikal Skum or Post-Mortem Junkie. But we walk little by little because these three projects don't make the same style. This cassette entitled "Outpatient" is divided into two parts: "hospital waste" and "I wish schizophrenia was contagious". As always, many musicians see a clear relation between noise and negatives aspects of life (war, deseases, torture, etc.) my me, also al always... not at all. Anyway I sincerely like a lot this great way to use of distortion pedals, samples to usher in a frantic and clangorous arrangement of very nicely sequenced rhythmic noise which are paired with some live percussion. Crackling mixtures diffuse and snake in the background, all elements mixed really nicely, and metal scrap howling through distortion can be heard as the first part comes to a close. Not extreme harsh noise nor clear rhythmic noise neither industrial... but something near to all these elements. Another thing I like in this tape is the total absence of human vocals, nor screams neither spoken words... only "moderate" and "controlled" noise.
