From late winter 2015 here’s "Llums de Tunguska" - an album of new material from one of the noise most renowned & respected names of the spanish scene. The release comes in the form of free digital dowmload, which offers up one long track and just twenty minutes of play time with sounds which can to remind: electronic harsh noise, dark ambient and even few black metal and doom metal touches (remember Cesc Fortuny (Ze Pekeno) is also musician in bands of those genres, besides folk and others). The release title means "Tunguska lights" (in catalan language) and the theme of the release is the study of the Tunguska event was a large explosion that occurred near the Stony Tunguska River, in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, on the morning of 30 June 1908 (N.S.). The explosion over the sparsely populated Eastern Siberian Taiga flattened 2,000 km2 (770 sq mi) of forest and caused no known casualties. The cause of the explosion is generally thought to have been a meteor. It is classified as an impact event, even though no impact crater has been found; the meteor is thought to have burst in mid-air at an altitude of 5 to 10 kilometres (3 to 6 miles) rather than hit the surface of the Earth.[3] Different studies have yielded varying estimates of the superbolide's size, on the order of 60 to 190 metres (197 to 623 feet), depending on whether the meteor was a comet or a denser asteroid. It is considered the largest impact event on Earth in recorded history.

Since the 1908 event, there have been an estimated 1,000 scholarly papers (mainly in Russian) published on the Tunguska explosion. Many scientists have participated in Tunguska studies: the best known are Leonid Kulik, Yevgeny Krinov, Kirill Florensky, Nikolai Vladimirovich Vasiliev, and Wilhelm Fast. In 2013, a team of researchers led by Victor Kvasnytsya of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine published analysis results of micro-samples from a peat bog near the center of the affected area showing fragments that may be of meteoritic origin.

New release of our compatriot Cesc Fortuny (aka ZE PEKENO). The musician is exploring how resources are always 2 seemingly opposite: the noise and ambient. The saturation of the sound or the opposite: silence, space, emptiness, etc.. Thus we can not say that ZE PEKENO is a draft style or the other, but it is both. The good idea is always based on the same formula, none of this album is repeated, even looks like. When I hear "KK Negra", "Buh!" or the latter "Abyssal" do not conclude that this is the same artist hacieno always the same, if not the opposite. In fact, someone could change the title and author's name, and I sincerely believe that all relate to one another. This "Abissal" differs from the other albums in the fact that it is a large, single track 33 minutes. And not lasted several short tracks. Tell which is the best and most inspirational of all? impossible. It's too subjective. Everyone hear each album quietly and draw your own conclusions. A good experience to listen to this album.

This is the latest work from Cesc Fortuny, one of Spain’s most talented and dedicated noise sound artists. Over the past 8 years, he has released highly-regarded and quality works in his own label "Artilleria Pesada", and most recently on his own "La Nausea", as well as collaborating with like-minded explorers of sound such as Mixturizer, VRILnoise and other. On this new full-length net release, Cesc Fortuny turns his ear toward extended, hypnotic sounds, combining it with the jazz drums of JN Trio, own personal variety of tape-damaged concrète noise. On this album, overlapping sheets of lush choral organ and synthesizer meld into each other, rising and falling in consequence, sweeping and pulsing through all fields of frequency. Blanketed underneath is a subdued, purring storm of crumpled noises collage, where found sounds, microscopic textures, and incidental debris delicately scratch at the melody above with coarse piano shards. With his primitive electronics and careful pacing, Fortuny is able to inject an incredible amount of active detail and depth into a seemingly minimal body. Organ music (drums) is a hand-played piece of deep ambient, dark and powerful in their magnitude. Shifting back and forth between light and dark, the melodies fall into an emotive purgatory, with a consequential production of unusual overtones can feel both strangely disorienting and holy at the same time. The sound has a bold and tangible warmth via tape saturation, built with what seems like the amplified air of a cathedral-like space, making for a raw and enveloping listening experience.

Tracks:  18
Time:  70 min.
Genre:  electronic

It is difficult to say whether this is the best album of ZE PEKENO, but what is very clear is that it is better presented. It was recorded in 2010 with a limited edition of 500 copies and a physical deluxe presentation: DVD box, booklet, pics, reviews, etc.. I do not know if copies are now, but I know it is available for free on various platforms: bandcamp, archive.org, lastfm, etc.. It is a very long (70 minutes) but is still working on the line that usually trbajar Cesc Fortuny: harsh noise, but also ambient, drone and space. I was lucky to get a physical copy and frankly worth having, because the artwork is awesome.

"KK negra"

Tracks:  9
Time:  120 min.
Lyrical themes:  anarchism , pacifism

Cesc Fortuny started his personal adventures with experimental and noise music in 2005. But it was not until 2007 that could make this magnificent first debut CD with 8 tracks of about 5 minutes each, but a ninth track of... an hour and 20 minutes. The first time I heard it I thought this was my favorite of his discography, but then recorded new albums ZE PEKENO and style improved. Here also we are facing a good work of noise and ambient, as has been customary in all these recordings of this catalan artist.
