"Terre paroxysm" offers up a sixty minutes disk collection of DANIEL MENCHE’s noise to ambient to sound structures, and experiments with not-described sounds. The names that jump out a the causal noise listener  straight away are; Masami Akita aka Merzbow, KK Null and Aube, along with many others into the ambient / drone scene. Despite this recording was made with electronic machines, our ears can to listen to all times sound with natural origin: the jungle, wind, sea, vulcano, earthquake, etc. A Very varied and rewarding release that’s deceptive title promises almost an all out noise attack, but instead gives the listener an wonderful collection of  challenge sound works. Important to mention the impact which caused in my eyes just have seen this awesome cover, a clear and a perfect and explanation with all kind of details of how it sounds the disk. From the fresh and soft wind, to the storm or the vulcano. I always have thought noise is more related with natural elements than gore, bondage, etc.

Mike Shiflet and Daniel Menche: Hammond organs and electronics. Recorded in 2007/2008. Mastered in the analog domain at Stereophonic Masting in Portland, Oregon. Mike Shiflet is one of the most interesting artists of the new US noise scene. He ran the Gameboy label with 100 releases in 10 years and, as musician, besides his solo recordings, he worked with C. Spencer Yeh/Burning Star Core, Brendan Murray, Francisco Meirino/Phroq & many others. Daniel Menche is recognized since late eighties as a major figure of the experimental music world, exploring the fringe between noise and drone in a heavy and organic way. For 20 years Daniel Menche has harvested a vast discography of solo and collaborations. Stalemate, the first collaborative work between these two prolific American artists, is based on Hammond organ sounds and electronics. The result is a heavy body of work - a powerful drone based music with densely textured sounds and some deep bass that'll make your walls shaking.

Ambient noise musician which started in underground punk / hardcore scene, does here 2 songs based album. Sounds familiar? Think this will be another DANIEL MENCHE release? Wrong. Time to leave your preconceptions at the door as "Furious eclipse" sounds like almost nothing else, at least in virgin land. This is not a straight-up collection of easy drone songs; Rather MENCHE has gone the whole hog and spent his time honing a concept album as dark and seeping as its blue-red cover (maybe fire / water?).  Musically, MENCHE’s influences cover a lot of territory and the results are unsurprisingly often more non-linear and atmosphere-based than anything repetitive. Coil is perhaps a good reference point, especially in terms of the dark spectral mood, such as on some tracks, which are inspired by earth-works artist Robert Smithson’s sand sculpture in Great Salt Lakes, Utah. Overall then, "Furious eclipse" is a rare work indeed. Short like an old fashioned album to which it pays homage, complete thematically and with enough sonic depth and vibe to keep you coming back again, it’s a breathtaking record.

In a genre known for its randomness and chaotic structure, DANIEL MENCHE has established himself as a musician with an uncharacteristic sense of focus and determination. Rather than creating “noise,” he strives for order and cohesiveness. Aural intensity is not a representation of confusion or the chaotic, but a concerted effort to provoke and stimulate the listener’s imagination by generating intensely powerful sounds and music. It seem DANIEL MENCHE started his personal musical career since very teen, when he used to listen to american punk rock and hardcore bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks and of course the better punk band ever from his own city Portland (Oregon) = Poison Idea.
