Icelandic group formed in Reykjavík September 1981, Tappi Tíkarrass was a short-lived project that is perhaps best known as being the first serious music project of now-renowned singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir (aka Björk, who was only in her mid teens at the time). Coming out of the punk rock movement Tappi Tíkarrass combined also elements of funk, disco and jazz. The band's name is Icelandic for "Cork The Bitch's Arse", but they recorded just an album plus an EP, both together in this link here below. They started in 1981 and disbanded in 1983, meanwhile Björk played also in her other band KUKL.

Someone once said that every good artist must have gone through an extreme experience, rebellious and punk rock. Well, even the melodic music singer BJORK electronics, also spent his fever punk and even get to record an album with his own band in Iceland, called by the strange name of Kukl If it is true and well needless to say loud and clear, Kukl and started from the premise of not being a punk group of "normal", even as post punk group seemed too "normal". It sounded like Björk and Siouxsie & The Banshees or give an example. To give everyone an idea sickly moved among the music of the first disc of about Joy Division or even a sickly doubly PiL (The group of Johnny Rotten).       The only vinyl record are called post punk by a clear tendency towards the dark, sinister and dark wave, but there was the ideological component. The very Bjork and his 5 companions fatigue, firmly declared themselves Anarchists and inspired from early youth from the side / colectio / cooperative anarcho-punk: CRASS. The latter, CRASS, were a group of people who formed a group, a record label, a publishing, painters, poets, ideologues ... and also all lived together in a Squatt Okupado. Kukl not characterized by a sound, not at all, as all post punk bands looking for a clean and crisp sound, but also wanted to escape the Mainstream and commercial music. Dark wave, death rock, goth rock, cold wave... were clear and obvious influences in music Kukl footprint. They disposed of the already fantastic and charismatic voice and a synth Björk a trumpet, guitar, bass and drums. The production was also very typical of the style and period: abuse reverb, echo, pedal "Flagler" and other effects of dark atmospheres. The album is excellent and truly exquisite if you like the style, but like many others fell into oblivion, in the attic of broken toys... what a pitty.
